Important Customer Advisory: Dell NVMe SSD Firmware Update (Models 7450 and 7500)

At ServerSource, we aim to actively inform our customers of important advisories issued by Dell Technologies that may affect certain Dell PowerEdge systems.

Dell has identified a potential issue with specific enterprise NVMe Solid State Drives, models 7450 and 7500, where older firmware versions may lead to premature drive issues. In some circumstances, this could result in data impact if not addressed.

Even if you not have experienced any issues to date, Dell strongly recommends applying the latest firmware update as soon as possible to help maintain system stability and performance.

Who Is Affected?

This advisory applies to Dell Technologies PowerEdge systems only. If you have purchased Dell PowerEdge servers containing NVMe SSD 7450 or 7500 drives, your systems may be impacted.

Based on information provided by Dell, the following Service Tags have been identified as potentially affected:

1X0BW34, 4Z9QH24, 58CYW34, 5K9PM44, 7VL9W34, 86CYW34, 8XS9954, 9LJXJ24, BLJXJ24, BVL9W34, DQFRW34, DX0BW34, F1TFJ54, FLJXJ24, G1TFJ54, G6CYW34, H1TFJ54

If any of these systems are in your environment, we recommend reviewing them promptly.

Recommended Action

Dell advises an immediate firmware update for the affected NVMe SSDs. ServerSource supports this recommendation as a precautionary measure to help reduce the risk of future drive related issues.

How to Apply the Update

  1. Visit Dell.com and enter your Service Tag.
  2. Navigate to Drivers and Downloads.
  3. Locate the recommended NVMe SSD firmware update.
  4. Download and install the update by following Dell’s installation instructions.

In rare cases where the firmware update is not visible under your Service Tag, select All available drivers and search using the Software Bundle name.
