Friday 10th February will see the final year of Extended Security Updates for Windows Server 2008 (+R2).

Tuesday 11th July will see the final year of Extended Security Updates for SQL Server 2008 (+R2) and the first year of Extended Security Updates for SQL Server 2012.

Small Medium Enterprises

Tuesday 10th October is monumental for products ending support, including: Windows Server 2012 (+R2), Windows Storage Server 2012 (+R2), and Hyper-V Server 2012 (+R2).

Critical and/or security updates for a maximum of 3 years for legacy products that have surpassed End of Support.

End of Life (Retirement)

A product is no longer available or supported.

Policies

Fixed

A defined period of support and service, usually 5 years, from product launch, with an additional period of extended support after the initial term.

Modern

The period of support and service is continuous, provided that the product is licenced and up-to-date.
